New year, new me and all that jazz. Goals for 2017 and January

  • Happy new year fireworks

It’s that time of year, the cry of ‘new year, new me’ has gone up around the country. Gyms have racked in new members and the leftover Christmas chocolate was all eaten last night in a desperate attempt to be able to start the diet today. And in honour of that tradition of new years resolutions here are my goals for 2017.

This year I am not having resolutions as they are just so hard to stick to so I’m going to start doing monthly goals at the beginning of each month in order to take baby steps towards my goals for the whole year.

Goals for 2017:

-If you have already read my post about my chemical pregnancy then you will already know that it is no real secret that myself and Fabio are trying for another baby. We have already been trying for 6 months so naturally one of my big goals for 2017 is to fall pregnant with our next child. I will probably be doing a post in the next month or two about the difficulties conceiving we are having this time around.

-Look after myself better. This covers a whole range of things from drinking more water, lose a few pounds, brush my hair more often. Because let’s face it, it’s been a good day self-care wise if I have even gotten around to brushing my hair if I’m not planning on seeing any friends.

-Keep improving this blog and increasing how many people read it.

Now to break these down a bit my goals for January are:

Drink 2 litres of water a day. I am forever experiencing headaches by the afternoon only to then realise that all I have drunk over the last 15+ hours is a cup of coffee and a cup of tea. Fabio very thoughtfully bought me a Hydrate M8  that helps you to keep track of how much you have had to drink over the day and it has really helped me to increase my hydration. I’m also hoping it will help clear up my acne because at 25 I am officially 100% over having acne!

-Lose the 5lb I gained over Christmas. I don’t need to elaborate on that too much really but I am being bridesmaid to one of my dearest friends in June and of course all the other bridesmaids, and the bride are all skinny minny’s and I would love to be able to look back at the pictures and just remember how much I loved being a part of my friends special day and not focus on my back fat! So little bit of toning up and weight loss wouldn’t go amiss over the next few months!

-Increase my DA by at least 2. Domain authority, it’s to do with how google shows your site in its search results so basically will help more people find my blog.

-Reach 2000 followers on twitter. I’m at around 1700 at the moment so with a little focus on this I’m hoping I can reach this massive milestone!

-Reach 50 likes on Facebook. I literally launched my blogs facebook page today so I have no idea how easy I am going to find it to build my facebook page but I am hoping 50 is a doable goal. On that note if you haven’t liked my facebook page and would like an easy way to keep up with Emma and Family, please head here to like.

-Finish the training certificate I am doing at work (it may have been due in in November, whoops!!!) Like seriously, I need to sit down for a day and finish this or my boos is going to get pissed off with me! But it is so mind-numbingly dull that I just can’t bare it!

-Go for at least 1 run a week. Back in July I was running 3 times a week and loving it. But then we moved and I had less time and then it got darker and colder and I kept making too many excuses and I stopped running. So a little baby step is to aim to get out there for a 5k at least once a week. It will hopefully help with the previous loss 5lb goal.

    Hi Emma!
First time reading the blog – via #fortheloveofBLOG – and I love it!
Monthly goals are definitely the way to go – New Year’s Resolutions are so 2016! Looks like we share many of these goals, especially around growing a blog and online following. I launched my blog in November: http://www.musingmum.co.uk and I’m really enjoying blogging about being a first-time mum. If you have a sec check it out and let me know what you think.

I really recommend drinking more water, only 10 days in and I have noticed a big difference. I’m not getting headaches any more being the main one! Good luck with your goals!

Hi these all sound like really achievable goals! You can easily reach over 2000 Twitter followers, and hopefully Facebook too, although I have found that platform harder grow. I hate the dehydrated headache, I had one today caused by not drinking enough water. Good luck with achieving all your goals, and thanks for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x

absolutely achievable! The one thing I hate about goals is that people can set the target to high and be disappointed. I must do this myself #KCACOLS

Great goals! I need to join you on drinking more water. I spent most days drinking coffee, I certainly don’t drink enough water!
I’d also like to increase my DA although I’m finding it quite challenging!
All the best for the new year #KCACOLS
