Rocking Motherhood Tag

  • Rocking Motherhood

I was nominate by Me becoming Mum to complete the Rocking Motherhood Tag. If you read many parenting blogs you will probably have seen this done the rounds recently. This wonderful tag asks mothers to do that thing they rarely do! Compliment themselves! It simply asks you to name 10 ways in which you are rocking Motherhood. It’s surprisingly so much harder to do than I thought it would be when I was tagged.

But here I go, my 10 ways I am rocking Motherhood.

1. One thing I’m proud of myself for is that despite some extreme shyness I take Harrison to two different toddler activities a week and face the mums there.

2. I go to work. When Harrison was born I couldn’t imagine bringing myself to go back to work when he wasn’t even one year old. But of course the time came and I went back. And because I work we are able to provide so much more for him, including being in a position to buy our first house.

3. I read Harrison a story every day (apart from the two days I work because I’m not home in time to put him to bed so Daddy reads him his bedtime stories on those days). Bedtime stories only became part of his bedtime routine when he was around 18months old but I’ve been reading to him every day since he was only a few weeks old.

4. I breast fed him until he was 16 months old which is something I’m very proud of. I was totally open to bottle feeding if need be and came pretty close to going down that route with his tongue tie.

5. I brushed my hair and put make up on this morning (yes so what he was at nursery by the time I did it but shhhhh)

6. My son is not a dick head. That’s always a proud thought as a mother than makes me think job well done so far. I know no parent thinks their child is genuinely a knob but we have all come across other child at play groups that just make you shake your head. Well I don’t think he is one of those!

7. My kisses can cure every ouch we have discovered so far.

8. I’ve managed to work it so Daddy Fabs gets up in the mornings at the weekends with Harrison. That is actually probably more why he is rocking Fatherhood but it’s a big win for me really. I get to get more all important zzzzzzs.

9. I don’t have any big regrets with any of the decisions we have made about how we have raised him so far.

10. I feel confident as a parent. Don’t get me wrong, there are always going to be moments of what am I doing? Have I done the right thing? Etc Etc but for the most part I am the confident in my abilities as a mum and that is so difficult to actually achieve because there is so much criticism and judgement out there!

So that was my rocking motherhood tag. I tag my wonderful friend Lisa over at Pass the Prosecco Please.
